Middle School Admission Procedures: Grades 5-8
Campus Tours (Optional)
Individual tours are available by appointment daily. A Walk-in tour of the Middle School is offered every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. To schedule an individual tour, or for more details on visiting campus, please contact Admission Assistant, Annie O’Mara, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703.584.2314.

Apply for Admission Online
To begin the application process, families are invited to submit an Application for Admission online. The application deadline is Monday, January 23, 2017. After the January 23 deadline, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until all spaces are filled.
Schedule and Submit Testing
Applicants for Grades 5-8 are required to submit the SSAT. Flint Hill will administer the SSAT on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Register for the SSAT at www.ssat.org. Our SSAT school code is 3173.
International applicants must also submit the TOEFL Junior.
Submit Supporting Materials
The deadline for supporting materials is Monday, January 23, 2017. Supporting materials include:
- Online Teacher Recommendations: Flint Hill requests a teacher recommendation from the applicant’s current teacher. Applicants for Grade 5 are required to submit one current teacher recommendation. Applicants for Grades 6-8 are required to submit recommendations from their current English and math teachers. Teacher recommendations are confidential and must be submitted online. Please click here to log-in to schoolrecs, and use the same login information used to submit your child’s application. After logging in, create a profile for your child and a link will appear with his or her name. Next, select the recommendation you would like to submit and enter the teacher’s email address. Once you submit the recommendation request, the teacher will be prompted to complete the online recommendation. You will be notified by email when the recommendation has been completed.If you have questions about the online teacher recommendation, contact Stephanie Flores at 703.584.2310. - Transcripts/Progress Reports: The Permission for School to Release Student Records and Transcripts should be submitted to Flint Hill directly from your current school.
- Graded Writing Sample: Applicants for Grades 7-8 must submit a graded writing sample from a current English or history class. The sample must include a grade, teacher edits and comments. You may mail a copy of the writing sample to the School or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applicants for Grades 7-8 must complete the Candidate Questionnaire.
Parents/Guardians of applicants for Grades 5-8 must complete the Parent Questionnaire.
Parent/Guardian and Student Interviews
An interview allows parents/guardians and students to ask questions about our School community and gives us the opportunity to learn more about your family. Interviews are scheduled daily by appointment. Please contact Annie O’Mara at 703.584.2314 or email@example.com to schedule your interviews.
School Visit (Optional)
Applicants for Grades 5-8 are invited to complete a half-day visit. Visits are scheduled daily by appointment. During the visit, applicants will visit classes, tour the School and meet members of our faculty. Please call 703.584.2314 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your visit.
