Upper School Admission Procedures: Grades 9-12
Tour Campus (Optional)
Individual tours are available by appointment daily. A Walk-in tour of the Upper School is offered every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. To schedule an individual tour, or for more details on visiting campus, please contact Admission Services Coordinator, Annie O’Mara, at email@example.com or 703.584.2314.

Apply for Admission Online
To begin the application process, families are invited to submit an Application for Admission online. The application deadline is Friday, January 19, 2018. After the January 19 deadline, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all spaces are filled.
Shadow Visit (Optional)
Students applying for Grades 9-12 are invited to complete a school shadow visit. After submitting an application, families will receive a link to an online appointment system to schedule their shadow visits. During the visit, the student will shadow a current student and visit classes, tour the school and meet other students and faculty. The visit will take place from 8:05 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and includes lunch provided by Flint Hill.
Schedule and Submit Testing
Applicants for Grades 9-11 are required to submit the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). The PSAT can be submitted in lieu of the SSAT for Grade 11. Applicants for Grade 12 are required to submit the PSAT, SAT or ACT. All international applicants for whom English is a second language must submit TOEFL scores.
Flint Hill will administer the SSAT on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Register for the SSAT at www.ssat.org. Our SSAT school code is 3173.
Submit Teacher Recommendations
- Applicants for Grades 9-12 must submit two teacher recommendations from their current math and English teachers. Teacher recommendations are confidential and must be submitted online. Please click here to log-in to schoolrecs, and use the same login information used to submit your child’s application. After logging in, create a profile for your child and a link will appear with his or her name. Next, select the recommendation you would like to submit and enter the teacher’s email address. Once you submit the recommendation request, the teacher will be prompted to complete the online recommendation. You will be notified by email when the recommendation has been completed. If you have questions about the online teacher recommendations, contact the Admission Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you experience technical difficulties with the system, please feel free to download the Grades 6-12 Math Recommendation form, Grades 6-12 English Recommendation form, or the Grades 2-12 Teacher Recommendation form and send them to your child’s teacher. The form can be completed and emailed back to our office at email@example.com.
- Submit Official Transcripts/Progress Reports: The Permission for School to Release Student Records and Transcripts should be submitted directly to your current school. Official transcripts must be submitted to Flint Hill directly from your current school.
- Submit Graded Writing Sample: Applicants for Grades 9-12 must submit a graded writing sample from a current English or history class. The sample must include a grade, teacher edits and comments. You may mail a copy of the writing sample to the School or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Submit Candidate Questionnaire
Applicants for Grades 9-12 must complete the Candidate Questionnaire.
Submit Parent/Guardian Questionnaire
Parents or Guardians of Grades 9-12 applicants must complete the Parent Questionnaire.
Submit Student and Parent/Guardian Interview
Individual parent/guardian and student interviews for each candidate are required to complete the admission process. The parent/guardian and student interviews are conducted on the same day and take approximately one hour combined. Interviews are scheduled by appointment after an application has been submitted.
