What I love about Flint Hill are the relationships with the students and faculty members. I love working with middle school-aged kids because they are in such an important developmental part of their lives, where they are really figuring out who they are and adjusting to the responsibility that comes with growing up. The middle school faculty is really like a family, where we all care about each other and support each other however we can.
My favorite part of the day is when Middle School sports start. I love getting to work with our students in an environment that is completely different from the rest of the school day. It creates incredible opportunities to make connections with students that are significant and can last for years.
This was also my first year coaching soccer after 18 years of coaching football at Flint Hill. I loved the challenge of trying something new and getting to see the improvement of my team (and my coaching) over the course of the season.
The most important thing I shared with my students is that having a positive attitude and being respectful makes all of the difference in life. In the classroom, in Advisory, on the sports field, at break, it doesn't matter where. Finding the good in things and making the best of difficult situations is going to bring the best out of each person.
