From The Head of School
March 29, 2023
Flint Hill Families,
I hope that you all had a wonderful Spring Break. Whether you were local or traveled, I hope that this time was rejuvenating. As students returned to campus this week, filling the halls, classrooms and playing fields with energy, I was instantly reminded of how quickly this school year has passed, particularly as we enter this final phase of the 2022-2023 academic year.
Our Seniors in the Class of 2023 have just about a month left of on-campus experiences, before the fun of Senior Day sends this bright and capable group off to commence their Senior Projects and, ultimately, to prom and graduation in June. We are also entering the time of year when end-of-year projects, performances (like Arts Jam on April 12 at George Mason or the “Mamma Mia” production at the end of the month, among many others!), and key academic and co-curricular experiences underscore the time, dedication and growth of our Huskies over the course of the school year. And, while we remain steadfastly dedicated to our students’ experiences on campus through the rest of the year, we are simultaneously looking ahead to class placements, schedules and other practical measures to make the 2023-2024 school year an outstanding experience for our students, families, faculty and staff.
All of this is to say: the next few weeks are going to fly by very fast! Take your time to enjoy the journey, which can include healthy conversations with your child about their growth over the course of this year, their hopes for next year and how we all can work together in support of those aspirations for years to come. Whether you are a parent of a kindergartener or one of a senior, we all can agree that these special moments with our children and as a part of this community can feel fleeting, so it is incumbent upon us to savor every moment!
Please know we are here for you as families, and working hard in support of every Husky, every day. If there’s ever anything we can do to help along the way, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Patrick McHonett
Head of School
