Mia Burton

Director of Institutional Equity and Inclusion

I have the dual role of being the Director of Institutional Equity and Inclusion and the Wellness teacher for Junior Kindergarten. I love that my job allows me to be a part of the experience of our JK students as they begin their Flint Hill journey. I am inspired by their enthusiasm for inquiry, play and wonder of learning. My favorite part of the school day is when I have the opportunity to interact with students. In my role, I am able to connect with students at all grade levels. I enjoy having conversations with our youngest and oldest Huskies about current events and topics of interest. I’ve learned so much from their different insights and perspectives.

My favorite lessons to teach in the last year were the Kindness lessons in the JK class. We read “Yoko’s Book of Kindness” and identified the different ways that we can show kindness in school. I want all of my students to understand the importance of our interconnectedness as a community and the positive impact that we can have on each other. A small act of kindness can have a huge impact!
