Message From Division Director
I am so happy about our upcoming in-person Classroom Visits. We miss your presence in the building and look forward to you spending time with your child. Our goal is for you to witness the authentic classroom experience that makes our learning visible.
We are also relaunching our In-Person Student Involved and Student-Led Conferences next month. The Conferences allow us to share in the celebration of learning. Throughout the year, students have reflected on their work and learning, and at the conferences, they will communicate their strengths as learners, the progress they have made and areas for growth. The conferences will be 20 minutes long, and the sign-up process will be emailed to you on February 25. Due to the nature of the conferences, some will take place on the designated conference day on the school calendar, March 11, while others will be arranged before or after school throughout the week of March 7 and March 10. Again, please be sure to look for additional information on February 25. We look forward to seeing you!

Major Minors, Tuesday, February 22, at 7 p.m. In the Upper School Commons
Fresh from their tours of Virginia Commonwealth University and William & Mary, Flint Hill’s award-winning a capella group, Major Minors, will take the audience on a journey that covers multiple decades and genres of music — performing classic oldies, current chart toppers, and catchy original tunes — completely a cappella. The concert will take place in the Upper School Commons and admission is free!
Dressing for Cold Weather
In cold weather, a hat, gloves and a winter-weight coat are required attire to go outside. Barring a medical condition, all children will participate in outdoor recesses. If wind chill conditions cause temperatures to feel 20 degrees or less, students will remain inside for recess. Children who do not have the required outerwear will not be allowed to go outside. It would be appreciated if parents could ensure that their child/children have the appropriate clothing for break and recess.
Parent Toolkit Resource Board Tile
The Parent Toolkit tile on the Husky Hub Resource Board is available. It is a resource with valuable information to help Flint Hill parents throughout the rest of the school year.

MAKING THE LEARNING VISIBLE
Students in 4A recently authored a book highlighting their research and learning about Abolitionists and the Underground Railroad. Students worked collaboratively to research, write, and illustrate the stories of influential trailblazers, including Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, William and Ellen Craft, John Brown and others. Students recently shared their work with Jeff Brown, an expert from The Tubman Museum. Mr. Brown wrote to the students to congratulate them by saying, “This amazing academic/artistic achievement is incredible both in the art the students have created, in the level of scholarship, and in the quality of writing from your students.” Mr. Brown even encouraged students to take the next steps and try to publish their work, so that “people can hold it in their hands, and we can sell it in our store here at the Tubman Museum.” Read the full book from the 4A students.

Love
One of the biggest reasons I love Flint Hill so much is because it loves me back. Every time I ask the school to give me more, it somehow manages to do so. Read more.
