Middle School Newsletter - DECEMBER 15, 2021
Message From Division Director
As some of you are aware from previous discussions, we are partnering with The Social Institute and piloting their #WinAtSocial curriculum with our students this year. #WinAtSocial is a gamified, student-led curriculum that focuses on navigating social-emotional health, social media and technology in positive, high-character ways. The program also provides resources to parents, providing insight into social media, technology, and student experiences as well as offering family discussion prompts to continue the conversations from lessons at school. Here are ways you can get involved:
- Register for the Parent Toolkit by using this step-by-step guide and the school access code: 0c68D8101A666E.
- Review the Parent Playbook for an overview of the partnership and browse other resources, such as the Family Huddles that correspond to each lesson.
- Attend the January 7 Middle School Division Virtual Coffee to walk through resources and our most recent student lessons with Middle School Counselor John Magner.
On Monday, we implemented our third (of seven) #WinAtSocial lessons in morning advisory. Here are the topics we have covered thus far:
- Seventh Grade
- Standing Up for Peers Who Have Been Bullied Online
- Surrounding Yourself with People and Content That Inspire You
- Recognizing How the Portrayal of People in Movies, Shows, and Ads Can Affect Us
- Eighth Grade
- Elevating a Culture of Inclusion at Our School
- Analyzing How Companies, Influencers and Online Groups Can Influence Us
- Rising above the Pressures of Likes, Followers, and Perfect Posts
Please enjoy a wonderful Winter Break with your families, and we look forward to seeing you in 2022!
Brian Lamont
Director of the Middle School

Annual Fund — #GivingTuesday and December Giving Days
Thank you to the many parents, alumni, faculty, staff, grandparents, alumni parents and friends of our school who supported this year’s Flint Hill Annual Fund during our December Giving Days, which kicked off on #GivingTuesday! This year, 105 donors committed more than $75,000 to the Annual Fund through these efforts. Your gifts bring learning to life for our students every day.
You’ve still got time to be part of the journey of discovery for every student at Flint Hill this year. Make your gift online, learn more about the Annual Fund or call Director of the Annual Fund Christine Kitzmiller, at 703.584.2349, to make a pledge or ask questions about The Flint Hill Annual Fund.
Thank you for your support!

My Favorite Holiday Tradition

My most favorite tradition by far are all the holiday cards. Read more.
