Message From Division Director
This week, we are participating in “The Community Service Iditarod” — a schoolwide event designed to help students better understand their community and how to serve it — emphasizing awareness, advocacy and action. The timing coincides with the anniversary of the sled dog relay, which brought life-saving treatment for the diphtheria outbreak in Nome, Alaska and inspired the Iditarod as well as our school’s mascot. We have three community service coordinators at the Upper School (Riki Weeks, Charlotte Fomengia and Linda Okoth). These three individuals have been working tirelessly to put together service activities for the students this week and find outside opportunities for the students to get involved in the community. Our first activity was today during Community Time and there will be a follow-up activity this Friday. If you have a moment, ask your student about the activities this week and how they think they might get involved in the community. Though the pandemic has reduced the number of opportunities to do community service, there are still many worthy causes that could use volunteer support.

Upper School Coffees About Course Selection
The topic of the next two Upper School parent coffees will be Academic Course Selection for 2022-2023. Because course selection information differs greatly for rising 9th graders going through the process the first time, we hold a separate coffee just for those parents. Please join us on February 25, either virtually or in person. We will hold the coffee for 9th-grade parents at 8:45 a.m and the coffee for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders at 1 p.m.
Friendly Reminders
- Refer a Husky and the Admission team will reach out to them.
