Message From Division Director
This year, the approach at the Upper School for designing programming has been to be conscientious of the health implications but to gradually bring back large social events based upon the data we were receiving in the community, both from our own testing and from infection rates in the surrounding area. This allowed us to bring back in person town meetings, the Igloo, basketball in the gym during free periods, and a variety of other small activities. Yet, just as we were able to loosen restrictions when the data warranted it, we must also be prepared to tighten restrictions when the data warrants it.
In keeping with that approach, we have temporarily halted some of those on-campus activities listed above. Our priority is to safely offer on-campus instruction, athletic competition, and participation in extracurricular activities, such as robotics competitions and arts performances. To ensure that we prioritize those events, we are going to become more conservative with other policies. When the data suggests it is prudent and safe to bring back some of the other gatherings, we will certainly do so.
I truly appreciate all of the supportive and encouraging emails that I have received from so many of you regarding our various policy changes and safety protocols. We recognize that things are changing quickly, but what has been absolutely consistent is the teamwork that I have witnessed between the school and its community. Husky Strong is more than just a phrase.
Go Huskies!
Don Paige
Director of the Upper School
THE LATEST
Igloo Closed
Please remind your student that we are temporarily closing the Igloo while we continue to see an increase in COVID infections in the community. Though we discourage the practice, many students use the Igloo as their source of breakfast as opposed to eating at home before they leave. With the Igloo closed, we want to really encourage students to eat breakfast at home before they start the school day.
Friendly Reminders
