Interesting Article/Resource
Each year, our message to students during the final marking period is to sustain the hard work that has made them successful throughout the year. We encourage parents to do the same. The warm weather and end-of-the-year festivities bring rise to an increase in social gatherings and a potential increase in risky behavior. This article from Family Education speaks to the role of the parent in their child’s decisions about alcohol, particularly in terms of permissiveness and bargaining. Please also visit the Community of Concern website for additional statistics, tools, and resources.
Spring Exam Schedule
Here is the Upper School exam schedule:
- May 27: Reading Day (required for Grades 9 and 10) — this is a change, as we used to only require Grade 9. In other years, students from other grades could attend optionally.
- May 28: Math Exams
- June 1: Upper School History Exams and 9/10 English Essay Exams
- June 2: Science Exams
- June 3: Language Exams
- June 4: Closing Ceremony
An Update from the Health Services Team
As many of you know, the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination has been approved and is being administered to many students aged 16 and up. This is wonderful news!
Since many students have been able to be vaccinated we needed to remind you of our 72-hour symptom-free policy.
If students develop what you believe to be side effects from the vaccine, please notify the Director of Health Services Mary Hart. Students experiencing potential side effects will need to be symptom-free for 72 hours before returning to campus. This also applies to their siblings. It is very difficult to distinguish between side effects and actually having Covid-19 and/or other illnesses.
It is also possible that a student may have been exposed to COVID-19 just before being vaccinated, which means they can still develop the disease. This is the same policy we ask our faculty and staff to follow.
We are doing our best to keep all students and employees healthy by keeping members of the community who are experiencing symptoms, of any kind of illness, at home. Please contact one of the division nurses in the clinic or Director of Health Services Mary Hart with questions.
