The Trace App is Now in the Apple App Store
Trace, the contact tracing app used at Flint Hill, is now available in the Apple App Store. To update your app to the newest version, students with iPhones should delete the current version from their phones. Then, they can click here or search “Trace Innovations” to download the app from the app store. The old version of the app will stop working on January 14. This update applies to iOS users only.

Save the Date for the Nutcracker Act II
Act II of our reimagined Nutcracker will launch as a premiere on our YouTube channel next Tuesday, January 19, at 7 p.m., followed by a live Q&A with our student filmmakers via Google Meet. You can access the Meet here.
New Parents Council of Washington Event: Speaker Series — Ron Lieber, The Price You Pay for College
The Parents Council of Washington (PCW) invites you to attend its upcoming virtual speaker series event on Wednesday, February 10, at 7 p.m. Ron Lieber, author, journalist, and New York Times’ Your Money columnist will discuss his new book, “The Price You Pay for College: An Entirely New Road Map for the Biggest Financial Decision Your Family Will Ever Make.”

Senior Skip Day
Traditionally, we have considered the day after the Super Bowl as a day off for the members of our senior class. Parents have always been notified, and our faculty and staff make adjustments in support of this senior privilege.
Ordering Information for Graduation Announcements and Accessories
HerffJones is currently accepting pre-orders for graduation announcements and other senior-year paraphernalia.
Families who wish to order announcements or any other items may do so on the HerffJones website.
*Please note, when navigating the website:
- you will need to search for and select “Flint Hill School Upper School - Oakton, VA” in the search bar on the first page and click “Next.”
- click the link labeled “Shop grad products.”
- you will see various packages available for sale. However, to purchase announcements only:
- click “Shop Individual Products Including Cap and Gown” at the bottom of the page.
- click “Continue to Announcements & Accessories” and choose the items you wish to add to your cart.
Announcements are currently in production and should ship directly to families by the end of March. Orders placed after the production of announcements typically ship in 3-5 business days.

Reminder: Athletics Coffee This Friday, January 15, at 9 a.m.
Upper School parents are invited to join us for an informative session about our athletic program and winter sports, as we provide details and engage in dialogue about athletics, activity credits, and this year's winter sports season. You can access the virtual event here. The coffee will be recorded for those who are unable to attend.
Virtual Activity Credit Update
The athletic virtual activity credit will pick up once more, from February 1 through April 10. During this time, students will be able to earn activity credit through the Athletic Department virtually. Registration information will be shared at the end of the month.

Discussion Sponsored by The Parents Council of Washington
The Parents Council of Washington (PCW) invites you to attend Talking to Kids About Racism on Thursday, January 14, at 7 p.m. Panelists from three PCW member schools will discuss productive ways to talk about racism, with kids of all ages, addressing both conversations between parents and their kids and conversations between schools and their students. The panelist presentations will be followed by a question and answer period with the audience.
All PCW member school parents, administrators, faculty, and staff are invited. Please use this link to register.
The third meeting of the virtual Kaleidoscope Book Club is scheduled for Monday, February 1, 9-9:45 a.m. We will discuss “How to be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi. We look forward to building and deepening relationships through this shared learning opportunity. All parents are welcome to attend regardless of your familiarity with the book selection.
