A Word about Flint Hill

Last week, I hosted a virtual parent-to-parent admissions event. More than 70 prospective families joined me and a few volunteers to hear about our experiences at Flint Hill. Some of the volunteers had just joined this year and others had been here a number of years, like I have.

One thing was clear: no matter how long anyone has been here or what division their child is in, they all had remarkable things to say about our school.

I asked each volunteer to say the word that best describes FH to them. Replies included: inspiring, inclusive, amazing academics, community, encouraging, accessible, happy, embraced, agility, buoyancy, dedicated, and individualized. Last, and possibly my favorite: the gift of wonder.

We shared stories of teachers who went above and beyond, coaches who encouraged, and moments of struggle, followed by success.
Sometimes between late night homework, running around to playdates, applying to college or plans changing, we can forget how truly amazing this place is. What was supposed to be a session to help families decide if Flint Hill is right for them reaffirmed my own family’s decision. Even though this part of our journey as parents is almost over, I was reminded that I would do it all over if I could and that I wouldn’t change a thing.

What is your Flint Hill word?

If you would like to volunteer with admissions or share your story of wonder please email me.
