New Excitement
Last Wednesday, we hosted more than 100 new families at the New Parent Information Night in the Peterson Middle School. These families have been accepted and have made their decision to come to Flint Hill. It was a fantastic evening to meet other new families and begin to get acquainted with all things Flint Hill.
I have never been with so many excited people! I met new Kindergarten parents who are anxious to plan play dates and get to know everyone. I met incoming freshman families who asked about tryouts for Certamen (don’t worry, before I was a mother of a Latin student, I didn’t know what that was either) and people who wanted to know what brought our family here 13 years ago. I heard stories about what excited these families most about Flint Hill and why, with tons of academic choices in this area, they made this one.
This weekend, I also hosted the Sophomore Parent Dinner with the Illaria family. I was a little worried because it was a rainy Friday night, but it all worked out, and we had so much fun! I met so many parents that I hadn’t met before. Jim and Tammy Ilaria were wonderful hosts; they even had a chocolate fountain! I think this group of parents really felt and appreciated the sense of community on Friday night. I think everyone left with at least one new friend and will now have many more familiar faces at community and sporting events.
As we continue into the last few weeks of this school year, I again encourage you to volunteer at the Igloo (Upper School) or the Den (Middle School). Try to attend every event you can. We have a few spaces left in the Golf Clinic, and Mica Howard P’19 and I promise everyone will have a great time even if you have never played golf!
Take meaningful risks. Be yourself. Make a difference.
By now many of us have had an opportunity to meet our children’s teachers and fellow parents and to visit campus for events and activities. Homecoming is this weekend, and I encourage you join your Flint Hill community for a weekend filled with athletic events, food and fun for the entire family. It’s going to…
