We are the Huskies!
Recently I have been contacted by quite a few Husky parents that joined our pack over the past couple of years. Covid has made it harder to connect and I am slowly catching up. My feelings about Flint Hill families have been re-affirmed, our school attracts the best people!
I was invited to have coffee with one of these “newer” parents last week. After chit chatting for over an hour about our children, travel and the most meaningful way for him to be involved, he asked me a question that I have never been asked before. “Why are we the Huskies?”
I thought about that question a lot and then looked up the characteristics of a husky:
Huskies are hard to resist, with their joyful demeanor, exuberance, friendliness, striking appearance and incredibly beautiful smile.
Huskies are friendly and gentle, but also alert and outgoing. They do not display the possessive qualities of the guard dog, nor are they overly suspicious of strangers or aggressive with other dogs. Their intelligence, tractability, and eager disposition make them an agreeable companion and willing worker.
I cannot imagine a better mascot for our students, teachers, and parents. We are all huskies: positive, welcoming, non-judgmental, friendly, accessible and eager to help. I try to be a Husky every day, and I am glad to be a part of this Flint Hill pack with you.
I look forward to getting to know all of you. Please contact me if you would like to find ways to get involved, the possibilities are endless.
Go Huskies!
