The Head of School – September 17, 2025

September 17, 2025
Flint Hill Community,
From time to time, I like to hand over the “microphone” of this newsletter to others in our community whose voices and perspectives enrich our shared experience at Flint Hill. Today, I’m delighted to introduce a message from our Director of Athletics, Dewayne Robinson. With the fall season underway and Homecoming just around the corner, this is the perfect moment to reflect on the purpose and goals that guide our athletics program — and to celebrate the ways our Husky student-athletes embody excellence on and off the field.
Go Huskies!

Head of School
Dear Flint Hill Families,
I hope the start of the 2025-26 school year has been a smooth and joyful transition for your family. Whether you're a parent of a senior navigating their final year or a freshman just beginning their high school journey, we are so glad to have you in our community.
Our fall athletics season serves as a nice “soft launch” into a new year. It’s a chance for our Huskies to shake off the summer, reconnect with teammates, and settle back into the rhythm of school life. Our Upper School preseason was full of energy, enthusiasm, teamwork, and the competitive spirit we love to see. As a foundational part of our athletic experience, our Middle School programs have also had a great start developing skills, building character, and fostering a love for sports and competition.
The preseason and team tryouts can bring their own challenges. For some of our student-athletes, this period may not have ended with the outcome they had hoped for. I recognize how difficult that can be and acknowledge the disappointment some may feel. At the same time, I believe strongly that moments of adversity provide some of the greatest opportunities for growth. Athletics teaches resilience, perseverance, and the ability to rise to new challenges, qualities that will serve our Huskies far beyond the playing field. A few of our sports also accommodate higher roster numbers, ensuring our students can experience the value of team participation.
Stay tuned for a detailed pushpage on Friday. In the meantime, visit the Homecoming webpage for the full schedule of events and games.
As we move into the heart of the fall season, let’s be reminded of the privilege of representing Flint Hill together. Building and maintaining an outstanding reputation takes a village, and each of us has a role to play in this partnership. Whether it’s in the way we communicate with one another, the standards we hold for ourselves and our teams, the pride we show in the bleachers, or the respect we extend to opponents and officials, we want our community to reflect the very best of our core values. We hold our students and coaches to those expectations, and we hope you’ll partner with us in modeling them as parents and supporters as well.
We invite you out this fall to experience all of the things that make Flint Hill Athletics special. All Middle and Upper School games on our campus are free, and schedules are found on our website. Additionally, we invite you to review our Athletics tile on the Resource Board. There you’ll find detailed information about our Middle and Upper School program as well as our Athletics Philosophy, which outlines the goals of our athletic program and reflects our belief in the transformative power of sports.
Thank you for all that you do to support our student-athletes and coaches. We are so excited for the fall ahead and look forward to celebrating the growth, hard work, values and sportsmanship of our Huskies, both on and off the field.
