Husky Parents and Guardians,
We are making our way through the third week of Semester 2, and the busyness of the semester has returned. Report cards for Semester 1 will be available on Husky Hub later today. Details for how to view them are in the Announcements section below.
While grades provide a snapshot of a student’s performance, reading and discussing the comments with them offers an opportunity to celebrate their growth and to partner with them in setting goals for the semester ahead. I would encourage you to try to focus on the "how" behind their grades, instead of just the grade itself, as this fosters a greater sense of ownership and can help instill confidence as they continue along their academic journey.
This is also the time of year when we begin the next phase of our academic cycle and start to think about their schedules for next year. Our College Advising team has already begun to work with students, and they will continue to be involved and guide this process in the months ahead. That said, questions that you can begin to think about with your child(ren) include:
- How do we ensure that the courses they want to take allow for balance, focusing on the “whole student” while allowing time for co-curricular commitments and their well-being?
- Is there an elective they’ve been curious about?
- Have they excelled in an on-level course, and do they want to consider stepping up to an Honors or AP-level course?
More information will follow in the coming weeks, but please do not hesitate to be in touch if there are any questions.
I am excited for the semester ahead and all that we will accomplish together!
Chris Tennyson
Director of the Upper School
