The Head of School – April 30, 2025

April 30, 2025
Flint Hill Community,
As we enter May and the final weeks of the school year, there are innumerable events (large and small) that celebrate the connections, experiences, and excellence at Flint Hill.
From our Upper School Visual Arts Show last week, this weekend’s Spring Musical, and ample celebration of our Seniors during spring athletics’ senior nights and Friday’s Senior Day festivities, our eldest Huskies are balancing excitement and appreciation as they put finishing touches on their academic work in preparation for AP exams, finals, and end-of-year projects.
In the Middle School, our 7th and 8th grades are readying for their full-day field studies trips to Washington, DC this Friday. These opportunities galvanize their in-class learning and advisory connections with real-world applications and insights through engagement with museums, historical sites, and a whole lot of fun.
In the Lower School, our 4th graders are headed to Jamestown for their field trip on Friday, tied to their study of the colonies and early-US History, while other grades are putting an exclamation point on the year with grade-level field trips, including our upcoming big celebration of our 6th graders, including a class breakfast and fun day trip to a surprise location to be shared with the group very soon!
While we are all about our Huskies every day, we also recognize the importance of community and family connections at Flint Hill – as evidenced by the outstanding turnout at last Friday’s Casino Night on the Hill event. A huge thank you to all of the adults who came out to celebrate being a part of one Flint Hill community, sharing in some fun, bonding, and school spirit.
These shared experiences and Husky pride don’t end at graduation, either. This past weekend, we hosted countless Flint Hill alumni on-campus and in the community for Alumni Reunion Weekend. Events featured recognition of our Class of 1975 celebrating their 50th reunion, the time-capsule openings from our Class of 2015, celebrating their 10-year reunion, and honoring of Fred Atwood and our other retiring faculty and staff who have made an impact on generations of alumni at Flint Hill.
My greatest joy in all of these events has been appreciating the fact that – while we are always evolving – certain anchor experiences will forever be true at Flint Hill: impactful connections between students and faculty, outstanding experiences for learning and growth, and a sense of community and spirit that transcends boundaries and generations.
Enjoy these next few weeks, Huskies, as they are fleeting and always memorable.
Go Huskies!
