The Head of School – September 3, 2025

September 3, 2025
Flint Hill Community,
What a joy it has been to welcome our students back to campus this past week.
On the very first morning of Lower School drop-off, a new kindergartener hopped out of her car and exclaimed, “I’ve been waiting for this for years!” Her words capture the energy and anticipation we’ve felt across all divisions. In Middle School, students are already forming bonds within their advisories and with one another. In Upper School, students are reflecting on the privileges and opportunities that come with being part of Flint Hill.
At our first Upper School Town Meeting, I shared my hopes for our students this year in two simple phrases: Show Up and Show Out.
To Show Up means more than being present. It means arriving prepared, engaged, and eager to contribute — whether in class, during office hours, at Town Meeting, or on the sidelines cheering for fellow Huskies. It shows in small daily gestures — a warm greeting, a handshake or fist bump, dressing for the occasion, and leaning fully into the life of our school.
To Show Out means to perform, excel, and bring a bit of pride — and yes, even swagger — to being a Flint Hill Husky. It happens when preparation, attitude, and opportunity align, whether in front of a crowd or quietly on one’s own. Every student knows the feeling — that rush of excitement after accomplishing something extraordinary. And as a community, we shine brightest when we celebrate those moments together.
I reminded our students that celebrating one person’s success never diminishes another’s. Instead, it builds a cumulative culture of excellence, one where achievements large and small lift all of us and showcase the incredible breadth of the Flint Hill experience.
This year, I invite you to join me in showing up and showing out — by being present, championing our students, and continuing to grow the Husky pride that defines Flint Hill.
Go Huskies!
