Letter From the Division Director
May is always an exciting and energizing time in the Lower School. Our students are eager to explore, engage in hands-on learning, and bring their ideas to life. This is when Flint Hill’s experiential learning truly shines, as we aim to create meaningful, developmentally appropriate experiences. These opportunities allow students to investigate, create, and collaborate in authentic ways.
As we look ahead, we want to ensure you are prepared for several special events and experiences. In the coming weeks, you can expect emails with additional details, permission forms, and reminders about what students will need for each event, including lunches, snacks, and attire.
Here are a few highlights to keep on your radar:
- JK-1 and 2-4 Spring Concert — Our youngest learners will share their joy and creativity through song.
- 4th Grade Day Trip to Jamestown — A full day of hands-on history and exploration to deepen their understanding of early American history.
- 5th Grade Terrapin Adventure Ropes Course — Connected to their shared reading of “Ghost,” this experience will challenge students to take meaningful risks and build confidence through teamwork and perseverance.
- Lower and Middle School Spring Choir, Percussion, and Band Concerts — A celebration of rhythm, collaboration, and musical growth.
- 6th Grade End-of-Year Breakfast and Celebration Field Trip — A special time to honor our sixth graders as they reflect on their Lower School journey and celebrate their experiences together as a class.
These moments are more than events; they are opportunities for students to grow as communicators, collaborators, and confident learners. I want to extend a special thank you to our parents and caregivers. We recognize that you are often the ones making the magic happen behind the scenes, coordinating schedules, preparing materials, signing the forms, and supporting your children so they can fully participate in these experiences. Your partnership and dedication are essential to the strength of our community, and I am grateful for all that you do.
Best,
Jess Henry
Director of the Lower School
