Grades 5-8 Spring Concerts

Join our 5th-8th graders for their spring musical performances: choir, band, and percussion.

Parent Meetup: Move and Mingle — Tuesday, May 12

Stay active with fellow parents and join Katie Ramsey P'28, '30 and Fatima Latif P'28 for a Zumba class! Katie will lead a 45-minute class that gets your heart pumping and ends with a Pilates-style stretch. The next class will be Tuesday, May 12, 9:00-10:00 a.m., at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., SE, Vienna, VA 22180. Sign up and contact Katie Ramsey with any questions.

Virtual Upper School Preview for Parents from the Class of 2031 — Wednesday, May 13

On Wednesday, May 13, 9:00-10:00 a.m., parents of rising 8th graders are invited to this virtual event to learn about a seamless transition to Upper School. Meet Upper School faculty, staff, and leadership, and hear from current parents and students about their experiences. AI: Hype vs. Reality with Arjun Gupta '08 — Monday, May 18

Join Flint Hill alum Arjun Gupta ’08 for an evening of connection and innovation. Beyond a fascinating look at how technology is shaping our world, this is a great opportunity to connect with fellow Flint Hill parents and experience firsthand how the School’s spirit of curiosity and innovation continues to thrive.Arjun will demystify AI tools like ChatGPT and share practical insights on how to stay ahead of the curve while avoiding common pitfalls.We’ll gather for refreshments at 6:15 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:45 p.m. at the Peterson Middle School.

Save the Dates! Upper School Dance Team Open Practices and Tryouts — Tuesdays, May 19 and May 26

Students in rising grades 7-12 are invited to join us for open practices on Tuesdays, May 19 and 26, 4:00-5:30 p.m., in the Upper School Gym. These technique clinics are a great way to practice skills and learn more about the team. Tryouts for rising grades 9-12 will take place on June 15-16, 4:00-6:00 p.m., in the Upper School Gym. Interested students should complete this form and contact Head Coach Olivia Landrum with questions.

Thanks to those who were able to attend our Virtual PES on Postponing Alcohol and Drug Use. Prevention specialist Brenda Conlan provided practical tips for guiding preteens and teens toward healthy, substance-free decisions to help pave the way for an emotionally healthy adulthood. From time to time, teachers look to enrich the classroom experience by connecting students with real-world perspectives. The depth of knowledge within the parent and alumni community makes that possible in meaningful ways.

As interest in artificial intelligence continues to grow across disciplines, the School is beginning to explore ways we might tap into this expertise. If you have experience in AI or a related field and are open to being a resource, we would welcome the opportunity to connect. There is no set format or commitment at this stage.

Summer on the Hill Highlights: Clay Camp & Flag Football

Clay Camp: Mud n’ Fire
June 15-26; Grades 7 - 8

Get fired up! Join in the fun this summer at the clay studio for a two week intensive in ceramics. This camp introduces young potters to a variety of construction, decorating and firing methods. Whether working to create sculpture, hand building forms, or on the potter's wheel, students learn in a supportive and small class setting with plenty of individual instruction and inspiration from one another as well as our teaching artists. Clay Camp is designed for all skill levels to develop technical ability with clay while exploring unique ideas and expressions. Each camper will create a body of work they can both use and admire for many years to come. We will host an exhibition of the artist's works at the conclusion of the session with a reception for all to come and enjoy the work and visit with our artists.

Join Flint Hill’s Head Football Coach Kirk Peterson and his coaching staff for the Elite Husky Flag Football Development Camp — a camp designed for comprehensive athletic and tactical growth. This camp transcends basic instruction. It emphasizes the development of high-level fundamentals, fostering a culture of competitive spirit, and demonstrating the importance of discipline and teamwork — all while keeping the element of FUN central to the experience.
