Husky Parents and Guardians,
Community — that's a word that has been on my mind a lot recently.
Two weeks ago, I had the chance to participate in a virtual conference focused on how to build stronger and kinder communities. Eight students and a number of teachers and administrators also participated. The conference ran for a few days, and I left with an immense sense of pride after hearing just how much our students care about our community. It is reassuring that our students’ drive for excellence is matched only by their dedication to supporting one another and making a positive impact.
As the calendar turns to February, the school is buzzing with activity. Just last week, we hosted the inaugural FH Science Exhibition, which was a huge hit and a testament to our collective curiosity. This week, we are hosting musical auditions. We are also nearing the conclusion of our winter sports season. It's been great seeing our students leave it all out on the court, ice, pool, track, or wall. It’s also been a season of tremendous success for our competitive clubs: Robotics, Cybersecurity, Certamen, Math Modeling, Science Olympiad, and Model UN are bringing home local, state, and national awards.
When we have a community like ours, it's only natural to want to celebrate it. Therefore, in just over two weeks, on Thursday, February 19, we will be holding our second all-school gathering of the year. Flint Hill Day will be another fantastic opportunity to showcase and celebrate our incredible community. We will adjust our schedule slightly. For more information about the professional dress code for this special event, please refer to the announcement below.
Warmly (this is the only fitting sign-off given the recent temps),
Chris Tennyson
Director of the Upper School
