Good afternoon, and I hope that this letter finds you doing well.
Yesterday, we hosted our Revisit Day for newly admitted families, and it was a fantastic day! There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing the nervous anticipation on the faces of prospective students melt away as they begin to envision themselves as part of our community. From the conversations to the presentations to the informal class drop-ins, every moment felt like a celebration of what makes the Upper School so unique. Watching our current students step up as ambassadors and share their stories reminded us all why we love this place in the first place. It wasn't just an event; it was a reminder of the community we are building together!
As we reflect on the role your students play within our community, we are now sharing information regarding course selection for the upcoming academic year. Last week, we held a Parent Education Series event to provide an overview of the instructions and guidelines for course selection. For those who were unable to attend that session, please find links to the presentation slide decks below. In addition to this valuable resource, Assistant Director of the Upper School and Academic Dean Howard Chang has been conducting grade-level meetings to discuss the course selection instructions and guidelines with your student(s).
Please contact Howard or me if you have any questions.
Wishing you all a wonderful lead-up to Spring Break. It will be here soon enough!
Regards,
Chris Tennyson
Director of the Upper School

Does Your Work Involve City Planning, Animals, or Space?
From time to time, teachers would like to bring in a presenter to enhance the classroom curriculum. Given the extensive levels of expertise within the parent and alumni community, we’d like to make these opportunities more broadly accessible.
We have a current need for speakers who would briefly present on the following topics in an age-appropriate way for 1st graders:
- City Planning: We are looking for someone who can share how cities are planned, possibly connecting it to the problem-solving process or writing process.
- Animals/Plants: Help facilitate a nature walk and spark curiosity about animals and the planet before we begin or during those learning units.
- Space: Having learned about day and night patterns, and following a planetarium visit, we are looking for someone who can share more info about space.
Contact Assistant Head of School for Institutional Advancement Meredith VanDuyne to learn more (no obligations). Thank you for helping students and teachers make these real-world connections!
