February 14, 2024

Flint Hill Community,

Happy Valentine’s Day, and I hope you had a great long weekend full of Super Bowl fun, beautiful weather, and time with family.

On Monday, our faculty and staff gathered for another professional development day. The bulk of our day together was spent considering Flint Hill’s emerging Professional Growth System, as led by our Director of Academics, Aaron Proctor.

Part of this work included identifying and articulating our instructional framework, the method by which our teachers will consider their practice – from academic delivery to classroom management, and so much more. It may be a bit “inside baseball,” but the approach is inspired by Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching, which is highly respected, data-informed, and aligned with Flint Hill’s Mission and Core Values.

Over the course of this year, and for coming years, we will lean into this Professional Growth System to hone our craft. This work will model that growth mindset we strive for and help us better support our students.

Our Professional Development Day was also a chance for our team to do small-group work relating to generative AI in the classroom and systems training for admin and support staff. We closed out the day with fun, connection activities including pickleball, trivia games, karaoke, and more. We snapped these photos of faculty and staff enjoying time with one another.

The day was enriching for our Husky Team on multiple levels, and we appreciate our community’s continued investment in our faculty and staff!

Go Huskies!

Sincerely,

Patrick McHonett
