Fine Arts Trips
Major Minors Fall Tour
Departure: October 24, 2025

Purpose: Major Minors 2025 Fall Tour! Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26, members of the Major Minors a cappella group are invited to travel to the "North Carolina Triangle" of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. While there, students will engage in a variety of workshops and performances with collegiate a cappella groups such as "Lady Blue" from Duke University, as well as enjoy team building opportunities together as an ensemble.

Virginia Junior Classical League Convention

Purpose: The Virginia Junior Classical League (VJCL) convention is a one-day overnight event at the Richmond Convention Center. The convention promotes Classical studies and fosters connections through academic contests, creative arts competitions, and social gatherings.

National Junior Classical League Convention
Departure: July 21, 2026
Return: July 27, 2026
Purpose: The National Junior Classical League (NJCL) Convention is an annual week-long event in which students from across the country gather to celebrate their love for Classics. The convention features a wide range of activities including academic contests, creative arts competitions, sports events (Olympika), and social gatherings, all designed to promote classical studies and foster connections among young classicists.

Compete on the Road: The journey to victory goes on the road! Our Athletics trips take our basketball, swimming, baseball, softball, and lacrosse teams to competitive tournaments and competitions, building teamwork and school spirit along the way.

Purpose: Join us on our annual exchange trip to Cataluña, Spain, over spring break! Put your Spanish into practice as you live with a family, attend class with your host student, and participate in cultural visits and field trips around Cataluña. This is a unique experience to see what life is like in a small village about 1.5 hours from Barcelona.

Charles Kenney WWII Legacy Trip
Departure: June 14, 2026

Purpose: Flint Hill juniors are invited to apply for this immersive journey to Normandy, Paris, and other historic sites in France. This unique opportunity is made possible through the generosity of the Byrnes Family Foundation. Inspired by the legacy of Charles Kenney—a Belmont Hill graduate and Marine Corps Officer Candidate whose deep respect for history and service continues to inspire. Students will walk the historic beaches, explore memorials, and connect classroom learning to real-world landscapes—gaining lasting perspective on leadership, sacrifice, and service. Selected students will travel alongside peers from The Potomac School and the Community School of Naples, broadening their perspectives through shared reflection and dialogue.

Salt Lake Climbing & Stewardship
Departure: June 22, 2026
Return: June 28, 2026
Purpose: Students will be introduced to the joys of outdoor rock climbing under the careful supervision of AMGA-certified guides in the Wasatch Canyon of Salt Lake City, Utah. The trip will include a 6-night stay at the Little America hotel with all meals included, as well as integrated educational sessions involving lessons on environmental stewardship and creative writing. Students may also have the opportunity to participate in evening yoga, optional hikes and interactions with local rangers. This trip will be led by the FHS climbing team coaches and is a unique offering available starting this year.

EF Student Leadership Conference: Latin America
Departure: July 9, 2026
Return: July 19, 2026
Purpose: This trip starts off in San Jose, Costa Rica, for the 2026 EF student leadership conference, the theme for which is "The Power of Environmental Stewardship." Students will collaborate with peers from around the country and around the world to use the Design Thinking Process to brainstorm ideas to address pressing problems related to the conference theme. Students will then pitch their ideas, and will be competing for the honor of having their team's idea put on display in the Nobel Prize Museum, located in Oslo, Norway. (Last year, a Flint Hill student was on the winning team!) After the conference, we will head to Peru to explore how ancestral wisdom and sustainable living practices have coexisted for centuries. We will get hands-on experiences, including creating ceramics with locally sourced materials, and discovering traditional Andean weaving techniques from present-day entrepreneurs.

Guatemala Service Trip
Departure: July 19, 2026
Return: July 26, 2026
Description: Flint Hill is partnering with the Highland Support Project to offer a service learning experience in Guatemala. The service project focuses on building stoves in the homes of rural Mayan families and providing art education at a local school. While service is the primary focus of the trip, students have the opportunity to zipline at Lake Atitlán and tour Mayan ruins, Antigua, and Quetzaltenango.
